The main objective of the project was to design a new competition aquatic centre to be located on the old steel work area of Ravenscraig. 

The centre was to provide a competition pool, diving pool, hydro therapy pool and teaching pool, with a viewing area over the main pools. 

As the centre would be located next to the Ravenscraig sports centre the design to harmonize with each other in some aspect
