Marybrugh Housing Development

3rd year BSc Solo Residential Project:

 

The main objective of this project was to design a new affordable residential development in conjunction with the Highland Small Community Housing Trust (HSCHT) within the area of Maryburgh, located on the Black Isle.

 

I was given the task of designing two affordable house types that would fill 14 plot initially and would then spread out to fill 55 plots in total. These two house types where a 3 Bedroom Detached house and a 2 bedroom Semi-Detached house.

 

All the houses within the initial 14 plot development where not only to meet Scottish Building Regulations, but exceed them.

 

Aesthetics of the houses was important as the houses where to be in keeping with existing houses in the area yet have a modern style incorporated into the design to help attract potential residents to the area.

 

Cost of the 3 bedroom detached houses where to be no more than £100,000

With the 2 bedroom semi-detached houses being no more than £125,000
